Parkview Services' Mission

Parkview Services’ mission is to provide inclusive housing solutions that promote autonomy, dignity, and community integration for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The flagship home on 15th Ave embodies this mission—it has offered stable, community-based housing since 1967. The Wockner Foundation’s funding directly supported their goal of sustaining legacy homes while modernizing care models to promote greater resident independence and program sustainability. Transitioning this home to a Supported Living Services (SLS) model aligns with their organizational commitment to individualized care, choice, and long-term housing solutions rooted in community.

About Parkview Services

Parkview Services is a nonprofit organization founded in 1967 by the Chivers family to provide safe, community-based housing for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). Over the decades, Parkview has expanded its mission to include affordable housing, supported living, summer camp experiences, and comprehensive housing counseling services for people with disabilities and low-income families across Washington State. With programs that promote independence, stability, and homeownership, Parkview continues to empower individuals with IDDs to live full, inclusive lives in their communities.

The William E. Wockner Foundation’s grant had a significant positive impact on Parkview Services by helping sustain operations at the 15th Ave group home and enabling a successful transition to a more flexible and financially sustainable Supported Living Services (SLS) model. Throughout the grant period, the home remained continuously operational, ensuring stability for its four long-term residents. The transition preserved continuity of care and staffing, maintaining residents’ quality of life while enhancing their autonomy and choice.
